Dona Edite

Dona Edite (André da Costa and Mariana Machado) works in the fields of documentary and docu-fiction, adopting an auteur-driven, artisanal approach characterised by a strong connection to community-based work. Since 2018, they have been producing music videos, advertising projects, and collaborating with film festivals such as MOTELX and the Italian Film Festival.

Dona Edite practice bridges cinema and the performing arts, developing collaborations with organisations such as Teatro do Mar, Lavrar o Mar and Rota Clandestina, as well as with Lisbon City Council.

In partnership with the artist Rui Paixão, Dona Edite has been exploring hybrid formats between cinema, performance and contemporary creation.

Dona Edite work is shown in institutional settings and at festivals, both nationally and internationally. In parallel, it has been developing work in artistic curation in recent years, such as the Mar Motto festival and with Sciaena, within the scope of projects dedicated to environmental awareness and ocean conservation.
